CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

At Citypress, we are committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment and identifying areas in which we can operate in more sustainable and responsible ways.

Our environmental policy governs the steps we take to limit our consumption of natural resources, through both our purchasing decisions and day-to-day business operations.

Some of our actions include:

  • Securing a Manchester City Council Environmental Business Pledge Award in recognition of our achievements.
  • Introducing a print policy to reduce unnecessary paper consumption. This led to us replacing our printer fleet with energy efficient Brother MFC-9840CDW multi-function printers that print on both sides of paper – almost halving our paper use.
  • Recycling all office paper and the hundreds of newspapers and magazines we read through a government-backed scheme.
  • Signing a lease on new offices that commit the business to Manchester city centre so that 90% of our team can continue to commute to work on public transport, saving 52,000 road miles and c.14 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.
  • Providing the IT infrastructure for our team to work from home.

We are committed to high standards of corporate governance and have a code of ethics and business conduct for all Citypress employees.

We also have a long-standing commitment to supporting community initiatives and charitable causes. For example, we have provided financial and pro-bono professional support to The Children's Adventure Farm Trust for over a decade.

The trust provides holiday breaks and activities for over 1,000 terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children every year. Facilities at its converted farmhouse in Millington (Cheshire, UK) include a multi-sensory suite, adventure playground, games room, pond and nature trail, go-karting track and a sports hall.

The charity is wholly funded by donations. One of our latest projects for the trust involved the creation of a website at www.saharastomp.co.uk to promote a Sahara desert fundraising trek, which helped to recruit volunteers.
