Primark: A wee nod to 50 years. Helping Primark to turn a viral debate into national celebration
Primark has been a staple on Scotland’s high streets for five decades.
After all that time, the brand wanted to celebrate the milestone in a way that truly resonated with the customers and colleagues who made it all possible.
Inspired by a viral Instagram post that sparked national debate over the pronunciation of ‘Pr-EYE-mark’ vs ‘Pr-EE-mark’, we decided to pay tribute to the version most Scots use every day.
Overnight, we unveiled new ‘Preemark’ signage at all 21 Scottish stores, from full-scale takeovers to playful window activations across the country.
The tongue-in-cheek nod captured the nation’s attention, generating widespread coverage and huge social buzz, with more than 8.4 million social views and thousands of Scots celebrating feeling ‘seen’ and ‘validated.’
Not only did we reignite the debate and get people talking about the brand, we proved to our audience that we truly understand them, creating impact to last long after the birthday candles were blown out.
