Bruntwood SciTech: Giving a UK-wide science and technology platform a voice of its own
When a business is backed by names as well known as Bruntwood and L&G, it is easily read as a project of its parents.
For more than eight years, we have worked with Bruntwood SciTech to establish it as an organisation making its own decisions, from its North West roots to a portfolio that now spans the UK.
We shaped the platform’s identity at launch in 2018 and again in 2023, when it secured £500m of further investment and welcomed Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) into the partnership. GMPF became the first local government pension scheme to invest directly and actively in a UK-wide specialist property platform. We positioned its arrival as evidence of the platform’s maturity, keeping Bruntwood SciTech at the centre of the story.
Coverage ran across national, institutional investment, financial adviser, property and local government media, including The Times, Investors Chronicle, Citywire and IREI. Taking the case for patient institutional capital into financial media built credibility with the policy and finance audiences the platform needed to reach.
We have built the profiles of senior leaders Dr Kath Mackay, Andrew Cooke and Jessica Bowles as recognised voices on innovation, regional investment and life sciences, and we lead communications across all three partners on every significant announcement.
Bruntwood SciTech was invited to give evidence to a parliamentary select committee on life sciences and to contribute to the Government’s Industrial Strategy, and the work was recognised with a Prolific North award.
A property platform now has a seat at the table alongside academia, business and research bodies in the UK’s ambition to be a science and technology superpower.
