Nicol joins Citypress to lead expansion in Scotland

Operating from offices at Kittles Yard, Causewayside, Citypress has also recruited ex-editor of the Scottish Mirror, Crawford Brankin, as a consultant after it purchased his PR operation JCB Consultancy in August. Brankin previously held the position of Operations Director at Beattie Media and will work with Nicol to develop Citypress’ client base across Scotland.

A consultancy team is currently being recruited to service the agency’s clients from its new Edinburgh base.

Citypress managing director Charles Tattersall said: “We have gradually built our client base in Scotland over the past three years, supported by JCB Consultancy and a strong freelance network. It was a natural move to acquire JCB this summer and retain Crawford to work alongside us to further develop our business in Edinburgh.

“The launch of the Edinburgh office is the latest development in our long-term strategy of building a UK network, which saw us open Citypress Birmingham 18 months ago. The appointment of Beth Nicol and the development of a new agency team in Scotland is a signal of our ambition to expand and create new jobs in Edinburgh.”

Prior to The BIG Partnership, Nicol was an Account Director at MHP Communications in London, where she successfully managed high profile global media campaigns. Her client experience includes campaigns for the Adecco Group, Institute of Directors Scotland, GVA, Scottish and Southern Energy and the Greek Government amongst others.

Beth Nicol said: “Citypress has seen year-on-year growth and has firm ambitions for future expansion, which makes it an extremely exciting time to join the agency.

“The PR market in Scotland has remained vibrant over the past few years and Citypress has already been successful in winning business north of the boarder. I’m confident that Citypress can develop its market share further and have a meaningful impact on the PR industry in Scotland.”

Citypress was founded as the first PR agency outside of London 51 years ago and combines consultancy, creativity and technology skills with an in-depth knowledge of the industry sectors in which it operates. The agency has specific experience in corporate, B2B, M&A and crisis communication, consumer markets and dedicated expertise in social and digital.

Citypress is headquartered in Manchester and has offices in Birmingham, London and Bristol, employing over 50 people. It currently provides consultancy to clients including AstraZeneca, Lloyds Banking Group including Lloyds TSB and Bank of Scotland, Brother UK, food and drink group Princes, Weir Minerals and HEROtsc.

The company is inviting applications for new roles at its Edinburgh office via its website www.citypress.co.uk.
