Sea Safe

Commercial fishing is the UK’s most dangerous peacetime profession. Sadly, some fishermen who go to sea never return, often because they don’t wear a life jacket. And without a body, families cannot have a funeral, claim life insurance, or settle a will for seven years.

We teamed up with Seafish to challenge commercial fishermen across the UK to think about the importance of safety at sea and promote the use of personal flotation devices (PFDs).

Our multi award-winning Sea You Home Safe campaign resulted in over 600 fishermen applying for free PFDs via the SYHS website by using a range of media, direct marketing and social media activity.

Website visits went up 600% and more than 100 media reported on the campaign, which was focused on coastal fishing communities around the UK.
