5 Industry shifting updates from Adobe Max 2025

29th April 2025

Another year, another brilliant Adobe MAX. Last week, Adobe unveiled some of the industry-changing updates for 2025.

I’ve pulled out some of my favourites and the ones I think will do the most to transform the creative process this year.

Firefly 4: Condensing timelines & aiding agility in production
Firefly Image 4 elevates AI image generation with sharper details, enhanced realism, faster processing, and improved creative control. With the ability to seamlessly integrate outputs into Photoshop and pull prompts from other platforms, Adobe positions Firefly as a “one-stop shop” for safe, commercially efficient imagery.

How it will revolutionise the industry: The result is a  shortened production timeline, that maintains full creative and commercial control,.  Brands can  accelerate content generation, whilst maintaining  high-quality content.

Scene-to-Image: Revolutionising visual drafting
The new ‘scene to image’ tool allows users to sketch a basic layout and generate a matching photorealistic or illustrative output based on prompts. It empowers creators to visualise complex ideas easily, cutting down iteration time and creative guesswork.

Why it will revolutionise the industry: It seamlessly bridges the gap between rough concepting and final output. This makes storyboarding, sketches and scamps a more accessible output for designers, especially those who have struggled in the past to create high quality and accurate sketches to demonstrate their ideas.

Firefly Boards: Collaborative design, redefined
Firefly Boards introduces a real-time collaborative moodboarding tool with intelligent image blending for composition and style. Teams can now see live-generated ideas during brainstorming sessions, creating a fluid, dynamic creative environment.

Why it will revolutionise the industry: It turns static collaboration into live co-creation, allowing teams to make faster, data-driven creative decisions.

Smarter Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro
Photoshop’s advanced background removal, colour adjustment, and guided Actions Panel make professional editing more accessible. Illustrator’s Generative Expand boosts flexibility, while Premiere Pro’s AI tools redefine video editing workflows with smart search, translation, and generative edits.

Why it will revolutionise the industry: These upgrades democratise professional design and video production, empowering creators of all skill levels to achieve higher standards. By streamlining the fiddly, time-consuming parts of the process, users can focus more on creativity and style.

Adobe’s strategic push to lead in AI Creativity
Adobe’s cross-product integration of AI—from asset generation to advanced editing—signals its commitment to being the central hub for future creative work. Every tool is becoming faster, smarter, and more intuitive.

Why it will revolutionise the industry: It sets a new benchmark for creative software, where human creativity and design expertise, and AI-driven efficiency are seamlessly intertwined. Adobe has long been at the forefront of design, and it’s encouraging to see them focus on empowering — rather than minimising — the role of designers in their latest technologies.
